How To Repair Canon Fd 28mm
Canon nFD 28mm f/2 rear element is loose.. whatsoever repair tips?
Picked up an nFD 28mm f/ii and the rear element (and part that it screws into) are loose and rattle when the lens is focused to annihilation less than infinity. Took the rear chemical element off with a spanner and was surprised to find the part it screws into was loose, figured it just needed to get tightened up.
Whatsoever ideas equally to how to repair? Tin can't seem to find a manual for any nFD lenses.
edit, a give-and-take.

Canon apply plastic roller bearings to hold the element group assembly to the focusing helicoid cam grooves. They suspension apart/degrade especially subsequently a couple of decades and will neglect to concord the assembly tightly within the cam grooves. When the optical group assembly is loose, it rattles if you milk shake it and accept lateral or rotational amount of looseness. This is an unfortunate issue with most Catechism fast aperture wide angle FD prime number lenses. My nFD 28mm f2 also has this problem. I attempted to fix it but the complexity was really high.

give thanks you for this. i've only dabbled in lens repair & cleaning, but this is clearly a different trouble.

This is why many adopt the earlier "chrome ring" FD lenses. Little or no plastic.
